Pioneers Split Pair On Day Two Of Spring Break; Lose To Trine 5-4, Defeat Post 7-2

Senior Nate Davis won all four of his matches on the day, two each at #2 singles and #1 doubles, as Malone fell to Trine (IN) 5-4 but bounced back to defeat Post (CT) 7-2.

The Malone University men's tennis team split a pair of matches on Tuesday during its spring break trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina as the Pioneers lost to Trine University (IN) 5-4 in the morning but rallied to defeat Post University (CT) 7-2 in an afternoon match.

With the 1-1 day, Malone's record moved to 4-5 on the 2012-13 season (0-2 GLIAC). Trine improved to 2-1 with its win while Post fell to 1-2.

Against Trine, Nate Davis (#2) and Steffan Dwarkasingh (#5) earned the singles victories while Youssef ElSonbaty and Davis won at #1 doubles and Alex Steinmetz teamed with Dwarkasingh for a #3 doubles victory.

Against Post, ElSonbaty (#1) won in three sets while Davis (#2), Vladyslav Dyenyezhka (#3), Dwarkasingh (#5) and Andrew Hill (#6) captured singles victories as well (all in straight sets). ElSonbaty and Davis again won at #1 doubles while Steinmetz and Dwarkasingh captured a #3 doubles victory.

Malone will compete against two opponents during Wednesday's third day of competition at Hilton Head -- vs. York (PA) at 9:00 a.m. and Elizabethtown (PA) at 1:00 p.m.
