Match Results vs. St. John Fisher (NY)

The Malone University men's tennis team posted a narrow 5-4 win over St. John Fisher College (NY) on Thursday morning in the squad's next-to-last match at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.  With the win, Malone improved to 5-7 on the season while St. John Fisher dropped to 1-4.

The tightly-contested match saw Malone win its #1 and #2 singles matches quite handily as Youssef ElSonbaty earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at #1 while Nate Davis picked up a 6-1, 6-4 victory at #2.  All other singles matches went to SJF but the Pioneers earned the needed three-for-three sweep in doubles to take the team win.

In doubles, ElSonbaty and Davis won at #1, Brett Krejci and Andrew Hill collected the win at #2, and Alex Steinmetz and Steffan Dwarkasingh claimed the #3 win.  In addition, the #2 and #3 doubles wins came by just two games each.

Malone will conclude its Hilton Head competition with one match on Friday -- vs. Cornell College (IA) at 1:00 p.m.
