Two Malone University football players were recently named to the 2011 All-NCCAA Football Team while one Pioneer earned Special Mention honors. On offense, wide receiver Justin McLean was selected to the First Team while linebacker Antonio Scassa earned First Team Defense accolades. In addition, linebacker Matt Vick earned the Special Mention distinction on defense.

The Malone University men’s basketball team suffered its second straight one-point road loss with an 89-88 defeat at Salem International (WV) University on Thursday evening. The Pioneers had two potential go-ahead shots on their final possession, but both attempts were off the mark, allowing SIU to hang on for the narrow win.

The Malone University women’s basketball team posted a solid 63-51 win at Salem International (WV) University Thursday night to bounce back from a pair of losses last Thursday and Saturday. With the victory, the Pioneers improved to 10-11 on the season while the Lady Tigers dropped to 2-18 overall.
