Malone University junior guard
Eric Coblentz was recently named the American Mideast Conference's Men's Basketball Player of the Week following his outstanding performance November 15-20 as the Pioneers posted a 2-1 record in contests against Wilberforce University, Concordia (Mich.) University and NAIA Division II No. 25 Siena Heights University.
Coblentz, a 6'2" senior from Hartville, Ohio (Lake H.S.), averaged 17.7 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals per game last week, helping Malone improve its overall record to 5-1 on the young season. Coblentz reached double figures in all three games, including a 24-point performance on Saturday in Malone's 90-67 win over the 25th ranked Saints.
The Pioneers will be back in action on Tuesday evening when they travel to the University of Findlay for a 7:30 p.m. contest. The Oilers, 4-0 overall, are currently ranked third in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) NCAA Division II poll.
