Malone Freshman Cross Country Athlete Ryan Roush Selected To Compete In Scotland For Team USA

In what is one of the greatest athletic honors that a current student-athlete on the Malone University cross country and track & field program has ever achieved, Malone freshman cross country runner Ryan Roush, of Canfield, Ohio (South Range H.S.), was recently selected to the Team USA squad that will compete at the Bupa Great Edinburgh Cross Country Challenge in Edinburgh, Scotland on January 5, 2013.

The announcement was sent today to Malone men's and women's cross country head coach Jack Hazen by the Chair of the USA Track & Field Cross Country Council, Michael Scott.  With the distinction, Roush became the first Malone student-athlete selection (currently still in college) for international competition with Team USA.

Roush had an outstanding fall semester as a member of the Pioneer team in his first semester with the program as he was named the GLIAC Freshman of the Year.  He placed eighth among 103 runners in that meet in a personal season-best time of 24:37.7 (8K).

“Ryan is very deserving of this honor and selection because of his tremendous success as a first-semester freshman at Malone,” said Hazen.  “We are very excited for this wonderful opportunity for him and look forward to his continued success within our program at Malone.”
