Isiah Elliott Earns GLIAC South Division & NCCAA Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week Awards

Elliott helped the Pioneers pick up a pair of conference road victories last week by averaging 26.0 points, seven assists, 6.5 rebounds and one block per contest

Malone University men's basketball player Isiah Elliott recently earned Player of the Week accolades from both the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

Elliott, a point guard from Canton, Ohio (McKinley H.S.), helped the Pioneers register a pair of road victories last week by averaging 26.0 points, seven assists, 6.5 rebounds and one block per contest.

The 6'1 junior racked up 27 points, eight assists and six rebounds in Malone's 90-85 victory at Tiffin University on Thursday. Elliott then registered a game-high 25 points to go with seven rebounds, and six assists in the Pioneers' 79-75 comeback win at Ohio Dominican University on Saturday.

This is the second time this season that Elliott has received the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week Award and the first time that he has garnered the NCCAA Student Athlete of the Week distinction.

On the week, Elliott connected on 16 of 18 (88.9%) free throws and 16 of 31 (51.6%) shots from the field, including four of seven (57.1%) attempts from beyond the three-point arc.   He currently ranks third in the GLIAC in scoring (19.1), fourth in assists (4.7) and sixth in steals (1.8).

Elliott, who was also tabbed GLIAC South Division Player of the Week in early December, joins Hillsdale College forward Tim Dezelski as the only GLIAC South Division players to receive the distinction on two separate occasions this year.

The Pioneers (9-6 overall, 7-5 GLIAC), winners of three straight games, will be back in action on Thursday evening with a 6:00 p.m. home contest against Hillsdale College (12-4 overall, 8-4 GLIAC).  The Chargers are currently tied with the University of Findlay for the top spot in the GLIAC South Division standings, one game ahead of fourth-place Malone.
