Malone University outside hitter
Taylor Slauterbeck has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week after leading the Pioneer volleyball team to a 1-1 record in a pair of matches over the weekend.
Slauterbeck, a junior from Huron, Ohio, averaged 4.14 kills and 2.63 digs per set on the week with a .299 attack percentage. She notched 14 kills and 14 digs against Saginaw Valley State (MI) University on Friday before piling up 15 kills and eight digs in a three-set sweep of Lake Superior State (MI) University on Saturday.
On the season, Slauterbeck is averaging 2.9 kills and 2.63 digs per set with 13 service aces and 17 blocks. Her total of 197 kills currently ranks 12th in the conference.
Slauterbeck's award gives Malone back-to-back Player of the Week honors as
Anna Hays received the distinction last Monday (Oct. 14).
The Pioneers (9-10 overall, 4-7 GLIAC) will next compete at the
GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament in Aurora, Illinois on Friday & Saturday.
