Malone University men's basketball player
Brian Stone was recently named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's South Division Player of the Week after helping the Pioneers register victories over Tiffin University and Ohio Dominican University.
After coming off the bench in Malone's first 16 games of the season, the 6'8 junior center from Shelbyville, Kentucky made the most of his debut in the starting line-up last week, averaging 15 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per contest while connecting on 76.9% (10 of 13) of his shot attempts.
Stone recorded the first double-double of his collegiate career in Malone's 68-62 win on Thursday at Tffin by tallying 13 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. He then notched a career-high 17 points to go with seven boards and three blocked shots in an 81-67 home win over Ohio Dominican on Saturday.
On the season, Stone is averaging 9.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per outing and he currently ranks second in the GLIAC in field-goal percentage, having made 62.4% (68 of 109) of his shot attempts.
The Pioneers, winners of four of their last five games, will be back in action on Thursday night with an 8:00 p.m. home contest against Wayne State (MI) University.
