Malone University men's basketball player
Stephen O'Daniel III was recently named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's South Division Player of the Week after helping the Pioneers register a 1-1 record in contests against Tiffin University and Ohio Dominican University.
O'Daniel III, a 6'0" junior guard from Columbus, Ohio (Westerville South H.S.), averaged 22 points, two rebounds and 1.5 assists per game last week. He hit six treys and totaled a career-high 28 points on Thursday to lead the Pioneers to an 81-78 home triumph over Tiffin. O'Daniel III then knocked down four more three-pointers on Saturday, finishing with 16 points, three rebounds and two assists in a narrow 77-76 loss at ODU.
On the week, he shot an impressive 51.6% (16 of 31) from the field, draining 10 of his 18 (55.6%) attempts from beyond the arc.
O'Daniel III currently leads the Pioneers with 45 made three-pointers on the season and is second in three-point percentage at 37.5%.
Malone, currently fourth in the GLIAC South Division standings with a 10-15 overall record and an 8-11 mark in conference play, will be back in action on Thursday with a 7:30 p.m. contest at Wayne State (MI) University.
