Malone University starting pitcher Joe Costello has earned the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (GLIAC) South Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week Award.

Costello, a junior right-hander from Canton (Canton South H.S.), improved his record to 3-1 on the season after tossing seven strong innings in the Pioneers' 6-2 victory over Lake Erie College on Monday.  He scattered five hits in the complete-game effort, yielding two unearned runs while striking out three and walking just one.

On the season, Costello has struck out 19 in his 22.1 innings of work and has compiled a 3.63 earned run average.

Malone, now 14-10 overall and 5-3 in the GLIAC, is scheduled to return to action on Thursday with a 1:00 p.m. home doubleheader against Ohio Dominican University.
