Day One ResultsThree student-athletes from the Malone University men's and women's track & field teams competed on the first day of the GLIAC Outdoor Championships in Hillsdale, Michigan on Wednesday.

Corrina Ruffener and
Taryn Chapman competed in the opening portion of the heptathlon while
Cameron Mack took part in the first five events of the decathlon.

In the first event of the heptathlon, the 100-meter hurdles, Ruffener finished fourth among the 14 competitors in a time of 15.16 seconds while Chapman posted a time of 15.86. Ruffener's 821 points for the event was her best point total of the day among the four events held.

In the second heptathlon event, the high jump, Chapman finished in a tie for eighth after clearing the bar at 4' 9.5" while Ruffener tied for 13th at 4' 8.25".

In the shot put, Chapman posted a throw of 30' 4.25" for a seventh-place finish while Ruffener finished 14th at 26' 1.75".

Chapman saved her best point-total performance for the final event of the day, the 200-meter dash, as she posted a time of 26.01 seconds for a third-place finish. She tallied 796 points for her effort. Ruffener clocked a time of 27.44 for a 10th-place finish.

In the opening event of the decathlon, the 100-meter dash, Mack scored his highest point total, 810, with a third-place time of 11.23 seconds, among the 13-man field.

In the long jump, Mack finished seventh with a mark of 20' 3.50". He then also finished seventh in the shot put with a toss of 35' 1.75". In the high jump, Mack tied for sixth with a height of 5' 10.50". In the 400-meter dash, he posted a time of 54.15 seconds for an eighth-place finish.

The heptathlon and decathlon will conclude on Thursday while all other events of the three-day GLIAC Championships will take place on Thursday and Friday.
