Tyler Whitlatch was announced as the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (GLIAC) South Pitcher of the Week for week four after a dominating performance against Findlay last Friday.
Â
Whitlatch went the distance in a 9-1 win over the Oilers, finishing with a career-high 11 strikeouts in a seven-inning complete game. The 6'5" lefty allowed just three hits and walked none in the contest. After giving up a pair of seeing-eye singles in the top of the first, and another single in the top of the second, Whitlatch was perfect down the stretch, retiring the final 17 batters in order.

Only five balls were hit out of the infield all game and of his 11 strikeouts, four were caught looking. Whitlatch struck out the side in the second and fifth innings and totaled seven punch-outs over the last three innings. With the win,Tyler improved to 2-0 on the season and lowered his ERA to an even 2.00, which currently ranks 5th in the conference.

This week marks the second time winning the award as Whitlatch captured GLIAC South Pitcher of the Week in week nine a season ago.
