The Pioneers started their season off with a big twenty-point victory last weekend over Illinois Springfield. The following night, the Pioneers suffered their first loss of the season to Southern Indiana by 11 points. Mitchell Spotleson led the team in rebounds in both contests, pulling down seven boards in game one and five boards in game two. Nate Sheppard had a team-high 23 points against Illinois Springfield. Sheppard has hit seven out of sixteen attempts from three-point land on the season so far. Freshman Jaret Majestic has been red-hot from beyond the arc to start his collegiate career as well. Majestic is shooting six for twelve, with four of those makes coming in the second half of the team's contest against Southern Indiana. Daylan Haynie has ten assists between two two games, while committing just three turnovers.

Central State Schedule | Roster | Statistics

The Marauders are looking for their first win of the season after dropping two games to Christian Brothers University. Central State is averaging 64 points per game, while allowing 80.5 by their opponents. Martin Oliver is currently leading the team in scoring at 11 points per contest. Oliver has been an extremely efficient scorer in the first two games, shooting 9-13 from the field in 34 total minutes of play. Davone Daniels is leading the team with eleven rebounds. The Marauders finished the 2016-17 season with a 10-19 record, losing 60-68 to Benedict College in the first round of their conference tournament.

The Thorobreds started their season off with a 92-77 loss to Salem International. Kentucky State will take on the University of Indianapolis before facing Malone. After trailing 49-32 at halftime of their first game, Kentucky State was able to outscore Salem International 45-43 in the second half. Dorian Jordan led the team in scoring with 22 points on 10-25 shooting. Ray Croon tossed in another 15 points for the Thorobreds while also grabbing 10 rebounds for a double-double. Kentucky State finished the 2016-17 season with a record of 10-17 and lost 79-73 in the opening round of their conference tournament to Fort Valley State.
