Malone University will host the G-MAC/GLVC Crossover Classic in men's basketball at Osborne Hall this weekend. Malone and Hillsdale are the participating G-MAC teams. Illinois Springfield and Southern Indiana will represent the GLVC in the Crossover Classic.

2016-17 Record: 14-13 (6-6)  

The Pioneers will look to build on the hot streak that they finished on last season. The Pioneers won nine of their final thirteen regular season games and advanced to the semifinals of the G-MAC tournament in the 2016-17 season. The Pioneers returned five of their six leading scorers last season. The team will rely on the leadership of seniors Ty Jordan, Mitchell Spotleson and Djuro Pantos to get things going early. The Pioneers were picked 7th out of 12 teams in the Great Midwest Preseason Coaches Poll.

2016-17 Record: 15-12  

The Chargers of Hillsdale were picked to finish third in the Great Midwest Coaches Preseason Poll. Hillsdale is coming back with a lot of experience this season, losing only two players to graduation from last year's squad. Stedman Lowry, Ryan Badowski, and Nate Neveau are each returning starters from the 2016-17. Stedman, going into his fourth year as a starter, led the team in scoring (14.8 PPG) last year. Stedman scored 81 three-pointers last year, third most in school history. He has made 209 three-pointers in his career, fifth most in school history.

2016-17 Record: 25-5  

The Screaming Eagles have already played two regular season games in the 2017-18 season. The team has gone 1-1, with a victory over the G-MAC's Kentucky Wesleyan. Southern Indiana is coming into the 2017-18 season hungry after a couple of heart breaking post-season losses last year. Southern Indiana lost by one point in the GLVC quarterfinals and then would go on to lose by one point again in the first round of the NCAA Division II national tournament to Findlay. Southern Indiana was picked to finish fourth in the GLVC East in the preseason coaches poll. Southern Indiana is returning three of their five starters from last season, including Alex Stein who was named a preseason honorable mention All-American. Stein is a junior guard who was named first-team All-GLVC last year, while setting the Southern Indiana record for free throws made in a year (151).

 

Illinois Springfield Schedule | Roster | Statistics

2016-17 Record: 9-18

Illinois Springfield was picked to finish third in the GLVC Central for the 2017-18 season in the preseason coaches poll. The Prairie Stars return ten of their twelve players from last year's team, including four starters. A key returner for the Prairie Stars is Eddie Longmeyer, who lead the team with 14.3 points and 4.0 assists per game last season. Vince Walker and Zach Steinberg each averaged double-digit scoring for Illinois Springfield last year as well.
