This week's "Pioneer Spotlight: Get to know the Malone Student-Athletes" segment features men's soccer goalie
Jon Crabbs. In his first season at the net, Crabbs registered five games with double-digit saves, including a season-high 15 saves at Tiffin University. He finished the regular season ranked first in the NCAA Division II in saves per game (7.63) and total saves (122). Crabbs was named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention, OCSA Academic All-Ohio Division II/NAIA Second Team and was named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team. Â

- Why did you pick Malone?
-I picked Malone University because I wanted a school that had a small tight knit
community that was close to home.

- What's your fondest memory at Malone?
-My fondest memory at Malone is walking on to the soccer team my junior year.

- What sports did you play in high school?
-Baseball, Basketball and Soccer

- What's your most embarrassing moment as an athlete?
-First time I ever played Goal Keeper in high school I didn't know any of the rules, and I picked up the ball outside the box. All of the guys gave me a really hard time about it.

- Who has been your biggest role model?
-My father for the sacrifice and love that he has shown me.

-1 Corinthians 13

- What's your favorite professional sport team(s)?
-Everything Cleveland. Mostly the Browns

- What's your game-day routine?
-I don't have one. It's wherever the wind takes me.

- What do you like to do in your down time?
-I like to spend time with the people I love.

- What are your goals for the future?
-I want to give back to the community.
