Men's Soccer To Play A Pair of Road Games

The Malone University men's soccer team is on the road for a pair of G-MAC contests against Ohio Dominican University and the University of Findlay this week. Despite a current record of 1-8, the Pioneers have taken part in some close battles recently. Three of their last four contests have been decided by one goal. The Pioneers will travel to Ohio Dominican on Thursday and Findlay on Saturday.

The Pioneers are looking to get back in the win column after a three-game losing streak. Malone is coming off of a 4-0 loss to Laker Erie College, but had a really competitive three-game span prior to that loss.
Pioneer goal keepers, Cody Hilty and Nick Wilhelm, have combined for 64 saves on the season. Their combined saves are the second most by any team in the G-MAC this season. Wilhelm has saved 76% of shots taken, fourth most in the G-MAC.
Sam Condon currently leads the team with four goals on the season. Jacob Rice and Brock Venman are tied for most assists on the team with two apiece.

Ohio Dominican is on a current five-game losing streak. Their only conference win this season came against Lake Erie, who just beat Malone last week. The Panthers also won their first game of the season, a non-conference game against Urbana.
Ohio Dominican and Malone are currently tied for most goals given up this season in the conference with 31 goals allowed. The Panthers trail the Pioneers in saves with 53.
Jonathan Barnes is currently leading the Panthers with five goals scored this season. Phillip Kelly leads the team with four assists on the year. Three different players have tried their luck as a goalkeeper this season. Clayton Hilderbrand has taken most of the reps, starting in six games while appearing in seven. He has 26 saves, but has allowed 15 goals.

Record: 7-2 (6-2)
 
Findlay is currently third in the standings with a 6-2 record in the G-MAC. The two teams ahead of them, Ohio Valley and Davis & Elkins, are each undefeated in conference play. Findlay's two losses on the season came by way of those two teams ranked ahead of them.
Findlay has allowed just 13 goals on the season, third best in the conference. The goal keeper for Findlay, Ben Richter, is allowing just 1.24 goals per game. His 77.8% save percentage is third best in the G-MAC.
Josh Hales has scored six goals this season, fifth most in the conference. Three of those goals have been game winner, which is tied for most game-winning goals in a season.
Just trailing Hales, is Josh Burton who has scored five goals on the season. Ten different players have scored at least one goal for Findlay. The Oilers defeated Malone 4-2 earlier this season (Sept. 9 at Perry High School).
